Metropolitan Benjamin spoke to a Russian journal about the meeting in Crete, which he referred to as a "conference" nd not a council.
Among other things he stressed that the decision of the Patriarch of Russia to not go to the Council was a wise decision. He also said that it is likely that the Council served the interests of the foreign affairs of the United States which has great influence over the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
