The Holy Cross in Petrokerasa

From the visit of the Holy Cross from the Holy Monastery of Xeropotamou to the parish of Prophet Elias, Petrokerasa, Thessaloniki, from the Saturday of Lazarus to Great and Holy Monday.

Below are photographs from the visit this past weekend of one of the largest pieces in existence of the True Cross of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from the Holy Monastery of Xeropotamou on the Holy Mountain of Athos to our village, Petrokerasa, and to our parish of the Prophet Elias.

Pictured: The Archieratikos of the Diocese of Ierissos and the Holy Mountain, Archimandrite Ignatius, shown holding the Holy Cross, flanked on his right by Hieromonk Ephraim from Xeropotamou. Also shown, in other photos, are clergy of the parish and visiting clergy, as well as altar servers and church wardens, community leaders and police sent to guard the precious relic.
